More about Shetlandia...

If you love a luscious, soft, squishy, sheepy-yarn then you'll love Shetlandia Fingering!

Custom spun for our clubs, you can get your needles on it while it lasts. Currently, we only have about 100 skeins in each all-natural shade;
  • Moorit, a warm cognac hued brown...
  • Emsket, a soft earthy-gray...
  • And finally, a soft dreamy white...
As you may have guessed, Shetlandia is spun from the wool of the Shetland Sheep breed. This is one of the smallest British breeds, kept for its very fine, soft wool...and we have been waiting forever for all the stars to line up just so we could get the premium quality that we insist on for our knitters.

The final result, Shetlandia, has been well worth the wait!

Here's what our Ravelry yarn club members had to say when we surprised them with it....

@Epilobe - "OMG! This yarn..."

@Cynnder - "I now have 4 skeins of this fabulous yarn. I love it!"

Because Shetlands have such a naturally broad range of wool types and colors, it's a go-to favorite for hand spinners and fiber artists who love "bare naked" wools. Rest assured, our undyed yarns retain all the softness, liveliness, and gloss of the natural fiber.

What an absolute treat to knit with!

You’ll find this yarn light, lofty and consistent…and of course, extremely durable – just what we like in our yarns.

The bounce keeps the final yarn from feeling wiry as it runs through your hands and it makes an equally excellent candidate for both lace and sweater knitting.

When knitting lace, it positively transforms, becoming airy and filled with light, ready to catch every little spring breeze that drifts by.

You'll also notice an excellent drape when blocked, which keeps its shape long after the pins are removed.

Happy knitting!
