Udo's Guernsey Sweater By Caitlin Shepherd, Plucky Pigeon Knits

As the winter months descend upon us, I am always struck by both the chill in the air and the great sense of whimsy for all things festive. This year a wee guernsey for your favourite furry friend might be just the thing for these cold and joyful months. Udo’s Guernsey is knit top-down and in the round. Scrap yarn is used to hold underarm stitches, and then later removed for knitting the sleeves. Short-rows at the back of the sweater provides a more comfortable and practical fit for both walkies and cuddles, with an optional lead/leash button-hole opening. Sample is shown in Bare Naked Wools Festivus 10.0 Worsted in Silent Night (blue).

Laurel Creek Hat by Ksenia, Life is Cozy

Sample is shown in:

Blue: Festivus 10 Worsted in Silent Night shade

The textures of this hat draw inspiration from the waters of a local creek. The cable motifs form the rounded shapes of river stones, while the garter stitch ripples remind of the gentle flow of water around them. Knit from brim to crown in the round, Laurel Creek Hat is a fast and enjoyable project. Cable pattern quickly becomes intuitive and wide fold-over ribbing adds a perfect amount of warmth.
