This simple, everyday square in three sizes doll(small, large) can be put to work as a baby square or sofa throw and is distinguished by the fluid drama of its scalloped hem, the waves of which are further accentuated by using a random mix of natural colors, to be determined by the knitter. The hem lace is a variation of the easy-to-work feather and fan motif, used in traditional Scottish hap shawls. This design is a tribute to those timeless beauties, now worked in a modern, one-piece construction. Because the hap was a workaday garment, this design is named for the Shetland sheepdog, a working animal that also sports a coat of dramatic shading in brown, gray, and white fur.

Shown here in Breakfast Blend Fingering, colors Morning Smoke, Oatmeal, and Sugar n Cream

Love this motif? It's also used in the Sheltie Triangle Shawl.
