Hatterist Cardigan or Vest

This warm fall cardigan or vest in 12 sizes (XXS to 1X) and [2X to 7X] feels scrumptious and is fun to knit. The body is worked bottom up in one piece to the underarm, then split to work fronts and back separately. Sleeves are knit flat and seamed to the armholes afterward. The simple-to-knit mosaic body pattern is contrasted by sleeves worked in a solid. Use one solid and one gradient for color interest, or two solid colors for a more classic or subtle effect.

Gauge:
22 sts and 42 rows = 4 inches / 10 cm in mosaic pattern on largest needle (knit flat, washed, and air-dried)
21 sts and 34 rows = 4 inches / 10 cm in stockinette stitch with Color A on middle size needle (knit flat, washed, and air-dried)

Needles:
size 6US (4.0 mm) circular needle or size to obtain correct colorwork gauge
size 5US (3.75 mm) circular needle or size to obtain correct stockinette gauge
size 3US (3.25 mm) circular needle for neck, armhole, and hem ribbing (or .5 mm smaller than stockinette gauge needle)
