Rich texture with a little openwork sets a distinctive tone for a scarf or wrap (scarf/wrap). This eye-catching design will appeal to men and women alike and may be easily resized as desired.

Worked in an intermediate stitch pattern that is soothingly repetitive but never boring, this project is an excellent choice for a first attempt at openwork.
The 8-row repeat of the body motif makes it easily memorized for knitters on the go. In either version, this design works up beautifully in a naturally squishy, airy fiber—the perfect thing for a skein or two of specialty farm yarn.

This pattern is both written and charted and can be transferred to your Ravelry Library upon request.

Both samples shown are knit in Kent DK. The wrap is knit in White Caps and Scarf is knit in White Sand.

Suggested Yarns:
Stone Soup DK, Better Breakfast DKKent DKGhillie Sport/DK, or any lofty DK yarn that knits to pattern gauge

Substituting yarn and/or needles may result in an overall variation in size, drape, or yardage requirement.

Finished Size scarf(wrap):
8(18) inches wide and 65(72) inches in length (washed and blocked lightly)

Yarn requirements:
340(950) yards

Gauge:
18 sts and 28 rows = 4 inches in stockinette on larger needles (washed and air-dried)

Needles:

size 8US (5.0 mm) needle (or size to obtain correct gauge)
size 7US (4.5 mm) needle for hem ribbing (or .5 mm smaller than gauge needle)

The Graze Scarf was a joy to knit

I knit this scarf for a friend and found the lacework instructions very clear. My friend was delighted with it. I can always count on Ann’s patterns to be well written and very knitter-friendly.
