These warm winter mittens in five sizes (XS/S/M/L/XL) are worked with a single cable detail to showcase a rustic, earthy yarn. Since they knit up super fast on larger needles, they are a good vehicle for chunky handspun or slubby yarns, special fibers, or learning to cable. They feature a fitted gusset and top shaping.
Suggested Yarns:
Kent Worsted, Confection Worsted, Chebris Worsted, Better Breakfast Worsted, Targhee Tango Worsted, or any worsted/aran weight yarn with 32 to 40 yards per ounce that knits to pattern gauge.
Substituting yarn and/or needles may result in an overall variation in size.
Finished Size:
6(7, 8, 9, 10) inches in circumference to fit hands measuring up to 6(7, 8, 9, 10) inches around palm (blocked)
Yarn requirements:
125(150, 175, 200, 225) yards
Gauge:
17 sts and 22 rows = 4 inches in stockinette on larger needles (washed and laid flat to dry)
Needles:
size 7US (5.0 mm) for body (or size to obtain correct gauge)
