This product is a knitting pattern that provides only the instructions to create the item—it does not include a finished garment. Please read the full description. The pattern may include additional instructions for design variations.

This asymmetrical lace wedge in two sizes (petite/tall) is worked from hem to tip in a wonderfully tangled pattern of vining leaf shapes with a different finish on each edge. While the motif is visually complex and the stitch count varies throughout, it is actually quite easy to work with rest rows mostly in purl. Knit in a shimmering silky yarn to highlight the forms within the pattern; use an airy matte yarn to enhance the play of transparency between background and foreground density.

Shown here in Modern Deco Lace, shade Chrome, and the tall size, knit in Skinny Dipping Milky Wool, color Extra Virgin

Suggested Yarns: Cormo Lace, Kent Lace, Modern Deco Lace, Shetlandia Fingering, Jacob Fingering or any silky fingering yarn that knits to pattern gauge. Substituting yarn and/or needles may result in an overall variation in size and drape.

Favorite project

I LOVE knitting lace projects. I have made probably ten lace shawls before. This is by far the most enjoyable knitted lace pattern I have ever made. It was incredibly satisfying to knit. I was worried that the asymmetry of the shawl would make it difficult to wear but I ended up loving it. It is perfect. Well written pattern and so satisfying to kknit. I highly recommend this beautiful project.
