A flattering, vintage style A-line skirt in six sizes (S/M/L and 1 to 3X), knit in herringbone twill, which is accented at the princess seams by opposing cable panels. Narrow cables define and stabilize the side seams as well. The skirt

is worked top-down in the round with a knit-in casing for the elasticized waist, then flares gently to the hem with increases placed along the side seams and cable panels. The length is easily adjusted for a perfect fit.

27.5(33, 38, 43.5, 49, 54) inches / 69.5(83, 96.5, 110, 124, 137.5) cm in circumference at waist (without elastic) and 43.75(49, 54.5, 60, 65, 70.5) inches / 111(124.5, 138.5, 152, 165.5, 179) cm around the low hip to fit with 4 to 6 inches / 10 to 15 cm of ease.

1-inch non-roll elastic, cut to waist measurement (see instructions)

 

21 sts and 28 rows = 4 inches / 10 cm in pattern stitch, knit flat on larger (gauge) needles

19 sts and 31 rows = 4 inches / 10 cm in stockinette on gauge needles (knit flat, unblocked)

 

Needles: 

size 7US (4.5 mm) 24- and 32-inch circular needles (or size to obtain correct gauge)

size 6US (4.0 mm) 24-inch circular needle for waistband (or .5 mm smaller than gauge needle)
